|Dr Amit Chabbra secures gold medal in DNB Ophthalmology
In a proud moment for the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram, Dr. Amit Chhabra a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) resident in the department of Ophthalmology has secured the Dr. G. Venkataswami gold medal in the final examinations conducted by the National Board of Examinations.
Dr. Amit Chhabra joined the DNB programme at the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram, in the year 2006. He joined the course after completing his MBBS from the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi in the year 2005. After securing the gold medal Dr. Chhabra said his first feeling was of gratitude to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Also he felt thankful to his teachers at SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, for their active guidance and encouragement.
During his stay at the SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dr. Chhabra proved himself to be a worthy candidate for the top spot.
While pursuing DNB he was appointed as International Council Scholar by the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) in recognition of the high standard achieved in the examinations conducted by the council. He passed both the basic and clinical sciences assessment examinations conducted annually by the ICO in the year 2008 and 2009.
Reacting to the news of the Dr. Chabbra receiving the gold medal, Director of SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dr. A.N. Safaya said that the gold medal was a recognition of the hard work put in by Dr. Chhabra and of the high standards of education imparted to the DNB residents by the hospital.
