DNB Program - The Department of Cardiology at SSSIHMS, Prashantigram is accredited by the National Board of Examinations to offer a 3-year training program leading to DNB in Cardiology. The Department was first accredited in the year 1994 and supports an intake of 2 candidates annually.
The three year residential program starts in January-February every year. Candidates desirous of applying for the course should have passed MD/DNB General Medicine/Pediatrics and should have cleared CET conducted by the National Board of Examinations.

Short Term Observer Program - The department also encourages exam-going students from other institutions to participate through a short-term observership program. Over 30 candidates have benefitted from this program till date.
Students are permitted to enroll for 3-4 months after taking their DNB theory examination. Daily training includes 3-4 case discussions, grand rounds and bedside clinical evaluation. Saturday is exclusively “Academics Day.”

Exposure to total spectrum of congenital, valvular, coronary, heart failure, arrhythmia related disorders. Students are also exposed to Electrophysiology studies, RF Ablations and pacing services.

Strong teaching program that combines didactic and clinical instruction.

Academic activity includes regular seminars, journal clubs, cath and echo conferences, combined cardiology and CTVS meetings, and a strong bedside teaching program

Clinical Postings in both non-invasive and invasive cardiology domains. Non Invasive techniques include Transthoracic and Transesophageal echocardiography, Stress ECG and Holter, Cardiac CT and MRI. Invasive postings include assisting in the spectrum of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including electrophysiology and congenital device closures.
