New fully automated ELISA work station inaugurated

The Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Prasanthigram, has acquired a new state-of-the-art fully automated ELISA work station for its microbiology department at the cost of Rs. 35 lakh.

ELISA machines are used to diagnose infections like HIV (AIDS), Hepatitis and dengue among others. With the new machine these tests can be performed in the hospital in a shorter span of time. The new machine is one of its kind in the Ralayaseema region.
The new machine was inaugurated by the Secretary of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, Sri.  G.S.R.C.V. Prasada Rao in a ceremony held at SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, on Thursday, in the presence of the Director of SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dr. Choudary D. Voleti and HoD of the department of Microbiology, Dr. Gururaj Kumar and the staff of the department among others.

Speaking at the inauguration of the of the new ELISA machine, the Director of the SSSIHMS, Prasanthigram, Dr. Choudary D. Voleti said that  the new ELISA machine will bring down the sample testing time to two and a half hours from  6 hours taken by the current method used in the hospital thereby reducing the waiting time for patients. “It is now possible to test 400 blood samples at a time,” he said. “The procurement of the new ELISA machine is in consonance with the principles of health care laid down by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Bhagawan Baba’s health institutions, therefore, give top priority to patient care and are always evolving ways to serve the patients better,” Dr. Voleti said.
