The Hospital is around 3 kms from the Sri Satya Sai Prashanthi Nilayam railway station (Puttaparthi). Around 1 km from Sri Sathya Sai Airport and 7 kms from the Prashanti Nilayam ashram and the adjoining bus terminus.
Most of the trains going via Dharmavaram to Bengaluru or Chennai from the North, West and East halt at the station. On the other hand, trains from the South passing through Penukonda generally halt at the Sri Sathya Sai Prashanti Nilayam station. The station lies on a railway loop line connecting Dharmavaram and Penukonda.
Patients and visitors seeking to visit the hospital are therefore requested to refer to the latest Indian Railway train time table for detailed information about the trains halting at the Sri Sathya Sai Prashanti Nilayam railway station.
Outside the railway station auto rickshaws and state transport buses are available, which charge a nominal fare for the travel between the railway station and the hospital.
Overnight buses are available from Chennai, Hyderabad to Puttaparthi, which stop right outside the hospital premises. From Bengaluru, buses to Puttaparthi are available from early morning to late in the evening from the Kempe Gowda Inter-State Bus Terminus, popularly knows as majestic bus stand. Beyond 10 pm there are no direct buses to Puttaparthi. People are, therefore, advised to plan their travel accordingly. The distance of around 150 kms from Bengaluru to Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences is traversed by buses in around 4 hours and 30 minutes.
Several lodges provide economically priced rooms near the hospital. There is also a Dharmasala, (Parthi Sai Dharmashala contact no. 08555-287699), near the airport, providing accommodation at a nominal cost.
People who might be residing at the Prashanti Nilayam ashram of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, or in the Puttaparthi town can reach the hospital either by auto rickshaw or by bus.
Patients and their attendants are advised to enter only through the patient gate, which lies on the Eastern periphery of the hospital, while visitors are requested to enter the hospital from the main gate (adjoining the main road).
